Solution Definition

The Solution Definition document is important because it serves as the governing architecture document for the solution.

All design and implementation steps are done according to architectural constructs specified in this requirements document. The document contains key technical decisions. It also details how technical requirements such as availability, performance, and security are being met. This document also specifies how the architecture satisfies business requirements through architecturally significant use cases. While this document serves as the overall architecture guide, it is not a detailed design document. In addition, testing, builds, configuration management are not covered in this document. This document is intended for management and technical staff responsible for implementation of the solution.

This Solution Definition document will be a work in progress throughout the actual deployment process. It will also drive the creation of the Project Plan to communicate the solutions intended scope and deployment.

The appropriate B2B solution is defined, detailed, and planned for rollout. Deliverables may include:

  • A detailed description of each solution to be implemented. Business processes, organizational impact, and technology architecture of the applicable solution(s) will be included.
  • Detailed solution design documents for each B2B solution to be implemented.
  • A detailed project implementation plan for each B2B solution. The project implementation plan describes the project details for implementing the preferred solution(s). Project details may include business processes, organizational impact, technology architecture of the solution(s), and the detailed requirements for each solution.

To generate this information, we will interview and meet with the key people and teams involved in applicable business segments. The persons involved can include the CIO, IT executive, security management and administration team, operations personnel, help desk personnel, key technical teams (for example, the operating system administrators), application development teams, and business managers. These interviews and meetings will enable the team to develop a comparison of how the system currently works and how it can be improved.

Using the information gathered from the B2B solution documentation, interviews, and workshops, we will produce the documents that are used to execute the project implementation plan. Resulting documents may include:

  • Project Charter for B2B Management
  • Statements of Work (SOW)
  • Project Definition Report
  • Requirements Document
  • Functional Specifications
  • Existing System Analysis
  • Phased Implementation Plan
  • Training Plan

Each deliverable is customized to meet our clients’ unique needs.
